A Case Report of Aplastic Anemia after Acute Hepatitis

Abstract
|
|
|
A Case of fatal aplastic anemia after acute hepatitis was presented. A 27 years old
male (soldier) was admitted to the Capital Armed Forces General Hospital for evaluation
of marked jaundice for 4 weeks duration. Physical examination, laboratory studies and
liver biopsy were compatible with acute viral hepatitis. He took prednisolone for 4
weeks. His jaundice and general condition much improved 2 weeks after medication.
Twelve weeks after onset of hepatitis, he was experienced nasal bleeding and visual
disturbance. Laboratory studies showed pancytopenia. A bone marrow examination
revealed marked hypocellularity of all elements. The patient was treated with fresh
blood, antibiotics and prednisolone. There was no improvement. He died 2 weeks later.
